Medieval Warming Period – Part 2

Here is more in my series about the medieval warming period.

And remember, officially the medieval warming period doesn’t exist according to IPCC and the other Global Warming Hysterics. They “tweaked” and ” adjusted” it out of the official temperature records.

So here are more data that officially disappeared from the temperature “record”.

A Matter of Faith

I imagine to an outsider, it must look like America’s two halves — the Right and the Left — are locked in an interminable battle of Zoroastrian proportion.  But, if you are a born and bred American, such as myself, you know better: it wasn’t always this way, nor is it that way now.  Many a cultural study indicates we Americans have more in common than not — that we’re very much in sync on a great many issues.  Where does all this hostility come from?  In Culture Wars as Far as the Eye Can See, Jonah Goldberg makes this point:

The Left, since the 1960s, has been the aggressor in the culture war. Liberals often object when conservatives point this out, but they brag about it amongst themselves. They are, after all, the “agents of change,” “forces of progress,” “enemies of the status quo,” etc. And when they meet resistance to the wheel of history or efforts to roll it back, they scream “culture war!”

In my youth I watched adults argue such things as Social Security, careful not to impugn the memory of our Dear Sainted FDR.  Once you took his name in vain, all bets were off, but if you avoided overt iconoclasm, people argued about the proper role of government, which Goldberg summarizes as follows:

The expansion of the size and role of government in this legislation is in and of itself a cultural issue. As we’ve been discussing around here quite a bit, part of America’s exceptional nature is that we do not look to the state for help the way many other countries do.

For years I had a slight resentment against Rush Limbaugh because I thought he should be accentuating the similarities over the differences but, looking back, it would have made no difference anyway.  Throughout the Clinton years, my “warm fuzzy liberal” friends attacked the memory of Reagan; attacked Limbaugh; attacked everything that I believed in.  Not long after that great Hurrah, they cranked up the Global Warming hysteria, which my friend Bayonet so righteously skewers — on a daily basis.  And then came Bush 43.  They slavered at the bit every morning to attack that poor man, simply for being alive — literally!  I finally threw up my hands in the face of these hostilities and asked, ‘Where did the Center go?’

Where has the Center gone?  Perhaps it was never there?  That is the real question America faces.  Unfortunately, it won’t be resolved through reason.  It will be determined by Fate.

And Faith, for the “progressive” has faith in That Hideous Strength, while the old fashioned conservative, such as myself, has no problem yielding his will over to a Higher Power.  I have no need to play God.  Or to act like a snot.  Or to run down my country.

That’s how it is.  That’s where we are.  Where it ends, only the Philistine knows.

Medieval Warming Period – Part 1

Ok, here is the first part of my series about the medieval warming period.

As I said in my previous post:

Remember how James Hansen (NASA), Michael Mann (Pennsylvania State University), Phil Jones (CRU) and IPCC et consortes made such a determined effort over a long time to erase the medieval warming period. They slowly diminished it until they finally succeeded in erasing it from the “official “data.

And how they at great length went about to hide all their manipulations, “tweaking” and ” adjustments”.

Why all these concerted efforts? Very simple, the very existence of the medieval warming period (not to speak of the Roman Warming Period), made mockery of their Global Warming Hysteria.

How can you blame the humans for this when the temperature was much higher and have risen faster during this medieval period. So it officially “disappeared”.

So here are the data that officially disappeared from the temperature “record”.

The first one is from the GISP2 ice core data for Greenland during the last 10 500 years.

About 1,000 years ago average temperatures were about 1 degree higher than today .

About 2,100 years ago average temperatures were about 2 degrees higher than today.

About 3,300 years ago average temperatures were about 3 degrees higher than today.

About 7,000 years ago and 8,000 years ago the average temperatures were also about 3 degrees higher than today.

Also notice the sharp swings up and down in temperature during very short time spans. For example notice the sharp increase in temperature 3,100 years ago. That rise alone, is nearly double what the Global Warming Hysterics say that the predictions of their computer models is going to happen during the next 100 years.

And we humans had nothing to do with this whatsoever.

Anything else standing out?

During nearly all those 10,500 years it was warmer to MUCH warmer than today.

At the end of the time period you see the beginning of the sharp drop in temperature which you see in the Vostok graph in my previous post.

Devoid of Facts

Al Gore blogs about an article by Kevin Curtis, Program Director at the Alliance for Climate Protection.  This is what Al quotes, see if you can spot the problem (emphasis mine):

“Solving the climate crisis is one of the defining issues of our time. Acting to stop catastrophic climate change is not a matter of public opinion, it is about responding to a reality. And Americans have consistently supported action to address this reality. Poll after poll has shown a large majority of Americans acknowledge the reality of climate change, despite the best efforts of professional skeptics who have tried to discredit the overwhelming scientific evidence. Of course, the polls show that Americans are very concerned about the weak economy and high unemployment rates — it’s the worst economic situation most Americans have ever faced. Yet the polls also demonstrate that Americans, in contrast to much of the hyperbolic rhetoric on this issue, understand that addressing climate change will also help the economy.

A recent survey at Stanford University found that 75 percent of Americans acknowledge that global temperatures are rising. While the poll found a 5 percent decline from the year before, it attributed this shift to a minority of Americans who do not trust climate scientists, and might be persuaded by short-term events such as changes in the weather. A recent poll by Republican pollster Frank Luntz found nearly two-thirds of Americans believe climate change is likely caused by humans.

Did Curtis even proof-read his own article, or is this what passes for thinking at the Alliance for Climate Protection?

422 700 years of temperature data

Remember also the astronomical hysteria that was spun before the Copenhagen conference? Where every one from the UN secretary general “downwards” where shouting on a high pitch voice, (of course with the help of mainstream media), that we are in IMMEDIATE AND EMINENT DANGER OF GLOBAL CATASTROPHE.

Unless of course we passed ALL the resolutions in that conference.

The high priests of the Global Warming Hysteria where really giving sermons around the clock.

Well, 5 months later we are all here and nothing happened of course.

I will in a series of coming posts publish some temperature graphs from all over the world from the last 1000-4000 years. And surprise, surprise, in every one of them there is a medieval warming period.

But before that I will publish the Vostok temperature record for the last 422 700 years.

To give a perspective to this short-sighted Global Warming Hysteria.

A perspective total and utterly lacking among our politicians and so called “scientists”.

Look at these graphs and study them carefully. Anything standing out?

I give you a hint – it is not the warmness. Around 85% of that timeframe is much, much colder than the present. And notice the utter sharp swings up and down in temperature during very short time spans.

And we humans had nothing to do with this whatsoever.

Also notice that during the few warming periods it was much warmer than present.

We are now in a blissful short period of warming compared with the normal state of the temperature on this earth. And for that we should be thankful.

And remember that this 422 700 years of data is a mere teenager in the history of earth.

But instead our “dear” politicians want to spend trillions of dollars, and in the process ruin us, our countries, and if they get what they want, we are being put back to the stone age; to “fight” a temperature “rise” that is not even a couple of percent of these normal fluctuations.

Wouldn’t you say that is a worthy goal to destroy our wealth and prosperity for?

Obama Care – Rejected by Mad and Endorsed by Fidel Castro

First I would like to say hello to all readers of The Daily Bayonet. I feel very exited to be able to share my viewpoint to this new audience. And I hope you appreciate it and that I can give some valuable input.

My first piece is going to be about Obama Care because it represents such a fundamental shift in American society. At a gigantic cost for individuals, businesses and states, cuts in Medicare, rationing medical care, enforced by IRS agents etc. Just to name a few things.

Add to that, that Obama and the leadership and committee staffers in the House and Senate who wrote the bill are exempted. And all the kickbacks, bribes and pork barrel politics to get this legislation through AT ALL COSTS.

And against the will of the majority of the people.

One little example: a small bank in Rep. Earl Pomeroy’s North Dakota is now the ONLY bank in the country that can still issue student loans. That sounds reasonable doesn’t it?

Meanwhile, we await Mr. Obama’s explanation why if his ”historic” health care law is so great for America, it’s not good enough for him and his family.

All in all – Politics at its best wouldn’t you say.

More on Obama Care on my blog

So, without further ado here comes my first post:

Poor Obama, what a double whammer.

First he is abandoned by Alfred E Neuman (i.e. MAD). And since his motto is “”What, me worry?” we should REALLY be worried when Alfred E Neuman is worried.

Then the kiss of death – an endorsement from Cuban marxist dictator Fidel Castro.

“Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro on Thursday declared passage of American health care reform “a miracle” and a major victory for Obama’s presidency, but couldn’t help chide the United States for taking so long to enact what communist Cuba achieved decades ago. “

With friends like these who need enemies?

Obama Care – Abandoned by MAD and Endorsed by Fidel Castro!

What an excellent political summary of Obama Care.

Monday Meltdown: Earth Hour Special

This week’s Monday Meltdown will be the last until May, but it’s a bumper look at last weekend’s Earth Hour news.

Chez Bayonet was lit up like a Christmas tree, much to the annoyance of the Prius driving hippies down the street.  Heh.

Oh, and there is a hottie, just because.

Earth Hour Special

First, the hard and very inconvenient truth, Earth Hour does nothing to reduce carbon emissions:

Even if power stations are turned off, the upsurge in turning the lights back on one hour later will require power stations that can fire up quickly like oil and coal.  Energy experts said it could therefore result in an increase in carbon emissions “rendering all good intentions useless at a flick of a switch”But WWF said the campaign was about raising awareness and saving energy in the long term, rather than a short-term fix.

So the WWF is willing to increase emissions in the name of marketing.  Does the WWF really think that there is a single person on this planet not aware of the global warming hoax, or is it that they don’t like that people aren’t buying the hype?  If you care, the WWF UK defends the PR stunt here, while the WWF in Australia mixed its messages rather badly.

Even Microsoft got into the action and darkened Bing.  They admitted it wouldn’t actually benefit emissions or anything, but then Earth Hour is all about appearances, not pesky facts.

The mainstream media loves Earth Hour because it’s a visual event and nothing gets readers hot like pictures of landmark buildings in the dark, or something:

now you see it...

The Sydney Morning Herald gushed over Earth Hour, ABC (America) resident warmist Sam Champion hyped the event and media in general went gaga for an hour in the dark.

Some papers wondered about what to do in the dark, which tells you everything wrong with hippies and lefties right there.  Shadow puppets? Is that a new euphemism for what red-blooded adults do in the dark?  I thought not.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen plugged for the event, it’s possible that Gisele even grounded her private jet for an hour.  Maybe.

So, what good, if any, did Earth Hour do?  Not much in Kallyvornya, or the UK, or Australia, or Canada where Edmonton failed to reduce consumption outside the range of regular usage variability:

Epcor says it can’t confidently attribute the 3 per cent drop in power to Earth Hour because it is normal to see a variation of plus or minus 10 per cent when comparing weeks, if you factor in weather and number of daylight hours.

There are some places in the world that don’t care for the WWF’s posturing, like Saudi Arabia for instance, but don’t expect to hear criticism of the oil rich ‘splodey folk, because lefties are terrible cowards about upsetting the wrong sort of people.

The most success was where it always is, in ‘lil Kim’s Norkland:

so ronery...

There was evidence of falling support for Earth Hour, even the vulnerable hippies in New Zealand could barely raise themselves off the couch to turn off the lights.

The WWF in Canada tried to spin the disappointing results, but Tom caught them in the act. Carbon Sense Coalition challenges the hippies to reboot Earth Hour on the shortest, coldest night of the year and do it outside:

The Chairman of “Carbon Sense”, Mr Viv Forbes, said that all supporters of alternative energy should spend just one night in the cold and the dark, emitting no carbon dioxide from coal, oil, gas, petrol or diesel for lights, TV, hot coffee, barbecues or cars. This will be good practice for the blackouts and shortages to come if Penny Wong’s rationing of carbon products and carbon energy is attempted.

“Winter nights are usually still and cold, so the candles crew can experience what it was like depending on alternate energy in the recent snowstorms in the Northern Hemisphere when wind turbines froze and solar panels were covered in snow. The back-to-nature brigade can also try living without iron roofs and concrete walls, both of which require coal and emit carbon dioxide during their production.

“To hold a candles-and-champagne party indoors, on the mildest night of the year, for just one hour, shows that the whole thing is green tokenism. Moreover both candles and champagne emit carbon dioxide. Let the true believers try the real thing in one of the extreme seasons so they can appreciate the great benefits we take for granted when using all of our carbon fuels and foods.

Amen to that.

Warmists never see the unintended consequences of their actions, Earth Hour 2009 launched the full fury of Donna Laframboise, and after her work on Climategate you can bet the hippies would like that genie back in the jar.

We’ll wrap the Earth Hour Special with a nod to the enlightened ones that turned it all on for the anti-protest, a gesture which drove lefties nuts enough to wish counter-protestors dead:

This cycle of outrage has got to stop. They’re only doing this because they know it pisses other people off. I mean, it’s the same thing, every year now.  You have to laugh at them or ignore them, not yell at them and give them extra publicity.

…Or round ’em up and gas them and use their corpses for biofuel.

Nice tolerant hippies.  Can we expect lefty politicos to denounce that kind of violent threat?  Thought not.

Oh, I promised you a hottie, and I mentioned Gisele Bundchen, so…

Earth Hour is good for some things...

Another New Name

Please join me in welcoming blogger Sophiaalbertina to The Daily Bayonet.

By way of introduction, I’ll let her tell you why she’s here:

My background and experience is in history, politics, political science, foreign policy and science. And of course journalism, research and analysis. I started blogging 2 ½ years ago (my blog:

I have written extensively about the greatest scientific and political scandal of modern times –The Global Warming Hysteria. And about press and mass media and their willing participation in driving and promoting this religious gospel. At the same time as these media is censoring and intimidating everyone who has opposed this hysteria. Talking about the ultimate betrayal of all that good and independent journalism was supposed to be.

My main underlying theme has always been to fight against all limitations of our freedom and fundamental democratic rights, regardless where it comes from. That’s why I have been writing so much about this Global Warming Hysteria. Because if these people get what they want – a totally controlled society run by politicians – the western civilization and what it stood for is gone.

You will also going to find pieces about foreign policy, what happening in certain countries and what that means for USA/Canada, all things that represents a threat or fundamental shifts in society (like Obama Care), the efforts of governments and corporations to censor and limit the freedom on internet and our communications, about defense and such matters etc.

In short, what is important from a perspective of defending our political, individual and economic freedom, and not reported in the mass media. So my intent is to bring some interesting perspectives from this side of the pond (Sweden/Europe).

I just know you’re all going to love hearing whar Sophiaalbertina has to say, please feel free to welcome her in the comments.

When Hell Comes to Breakfast

The Day After Hell Wins the Election

It was a story my Dad used to tell about the Bulge: he, a staff sergeant, was asked by a green lieutenant, “Sergeant, how I do get these men to dig foxholes?”

“Just wait” was his reply.

Sure enough, when the German “daisy clippers” blasted overhead, turning the white wasteland dark with evergreen boughs, there were “foxholes everywhere.”

Such is human nature, even American nature, that the story was told over and over, in different variations, across the battlefields of World War II. It was told as Admirals and Generals who were “up there” in the 30s cocktail circuits passed out of range and were replaced by names heretofore unknown to the American public. The same thing happened during the Civil War — during the Revolution. Human beings, even alert, highly trained human beings, are not proactive; we are reactive. We go from “crisis to crisis”, as a mentor in my youth once explained. American democracy cannot solve problems, can it? We “throw money” at poverty, drug addiction, education . . . . What do we get in return? Bureaucracies, dumb as oxen, that do little to improve life and much to retard economic innovation. A vital component has been missing from the American experiment: innovation. We have deadened our nerves and enervated our limbs with empty rhetoric and creeping tax increases. I doubt the average American even knows what being an American means anymore. We are lost, adrift in a sea of warring bumperstickers.

And there’s fear, a palpable, stomach-chilling fear in the land of my birth. What are we fearful of? Obama? I don’t think so. I think, deep down, most Americans know that what Dr. Zero says is dead on: Continue reading When Hell Comes to Breakfast

There Goes the Neighborhood: Meet Irish Cicero

I’m thrilled to announce that one of the hive mind behind Washington Rebel is joining the ranks of writers here at The Daily Bayonet.

Irish Cicero completed his Bayonet drill and passed the snark-o-meter test with a record high score.  Okay, he was the first to take it, but it was still a high-score, and on our budget we can’t be too picky anyway.  Irish Cicero knows what he likes, and isn’t afraid to tell you.  Expect some good blogging – at last.

Say hello to Cicero in the comments, give him a warm welcome while he still thinks we’re nice here.

Expect more exciting announcements about additional new writers in the coming days.  If you’ve been thinking about jumping in, it’s not too late to join up.
